what are these?

so i came upon some interesting green things at the market the other day, i am interested in what those stalks are above the celery, and below the rhambutan and dragonfruit. It looks tasty and i am just waiting for the day i have a kitchen and can cook them up.

Also I am interested in what these are? I have only seen them once. looks like lime berries.

Not corn.

So to make pupusas we might need to make the masa eh? Do they have corn over there?
Calcium hydroxide?

Do you think the pupusa would blow minds over there like the first one I had at Balompies in SF blew mine?

The first might be lotus root?

The second fruit is "cau". Old women supposedly chew it with a leaf called "trau", possibly as a stimulant? Once they're done, they spit out red.

Interesting to know.

That is "rau giút" above the celery stalks, a water plant popular as poor-man vegetable. It's usually cooked with crab in the style of bún riêu, after stripping out the cottony part.

Hello Mike,
I am clueless about the vegetables; I had some similar questions when I was at the public market in Vancouver BC last weekend. Say, we used to know each other, college era. Where in the world are you now? My email is hannahbendock (gmail). Take care!
